See a SAMPLE CAMERA - taken apart below.
Each component is described regarding its importance & function.

You may use the following selection box to see your
area of interest:

Camera Body  |  Lenses  |  Filters  |  Flash/lighting  |  Support/tripods  |  Accessories

In this example, we used the Canon EOS 20D Digital SLR with the EF-S 18-55 Lens.  See complete package below.

Camera Body  |

The camera body is the complete unit purchased without the lens.  It contains everything you need to take pictures.

Many stores offer this option to buy the camera body only, so that you are not paying for a lens that you don't want or need.

The following lists the "pieces" of the camera body, described and illustrated.

For example, we list the following:

Lens mount
Yes, this is where the lens is attached to the camera. Very basic. However, there are two important things to know about this process.
1) Alignment.  You must align the lens' white square dot with the white square dot on the camera body - then turn until you hear the click, locking it in place.  This applies to all EF-S series lenses.  If you are attaching any other compatible non-EF-S lens, you would line up the red dots on both the lens and the camera mount.
2) Electrical contacts.  These are VERY sensitive. Be careful not to touch these contact points as they are what control all communications between the camera body and all lenses used.
